The group ‘Bayim L’bankayim’ (‘coming for the bankers’) is engaged in protests against heads of the largest banks in Israel. They claim the banks’ conduct towards their customers is insensitive during writ of execution proceedings, especially in cases of debt collection. Members of the group organized several demonstrations against three individuals in particular: Bank Leumi CEO Rakefet Rusk Aminah, Bank Hapoalim CEO Zion Keinan and Bank Hapoalim’s controlling shareholder Shari Arison. The film “The Bankers’ Trial”, which aired on Kan 11 (an Israeli television channel), describes the background to the protest, the various opinions, and the trial that was represented by Assaf Derri, a partner in our firm. The film raised public awareness of this issue nationwide.
